* 380, 000 acres of farmland

* In 2018, 427,000,000 lbs of milk was produced

*18,000 gallons of Maple Syrup produced.

* One of the original 13 colonies

* Top 3 agricultural products 1. Nursery and horticulture 2. Milk 3. Poultry and eggs

* Many farms derive a portion of their revenue from tourists which adds 4.6 billion to the state economy

* Crops grown there include apples, barley, beets, carrots, herbs, lettuce, oats, onions, parsnips, pears, peas, radishes, turnips, wheat and broadleaf tobacco

* In 1705 copper was discovered in Simsbury

* America’s 1st trade association was founded in Naugatuck Valley

* In Hartford you may not cross the street walking on your hands

* Home to the oldest newspaper still being published

* Home to the first hamburger (1895), Polaroid camera (1934), helicopter (1939), and color tv (1948)

* The first lollipop making machine opened for business in New Haven in 1908
